Stars on Ice 2008

Another year, another suprise from Smuckers! This year our Stars on Ice tickets came with the ability to watch warm ups and meet some of the skaters. It was truly a great event!! Thank you Smuckers!!
Seeing Sasha do this on television is one thing, up close and personal it is truly amazing! (and she was suffering from the flu!)

Digital Layouts?

IF this works, I'll cut down on the clutter, and be able to scrap wherever...hmmmm
Here's some of my favorite B/W of Emily

Trains at the Garden

"Grandma was lucky o get an entire day alone with the grandkids, and took them to see the outdoor train exhibit at the Garden one Summer's day."
This was a fun one because of all the flowers and rhinestones.

Animal Kingdom

Let's just say the OCD took over this morning....The forearms, upper arms, head, necklace, legs and calves all move independently....yeah, don't try this at home!

Mardi Gras Layout

Apparantly I'm on a roll! Emily made the stars, which came off her wheelchair, I made the little mask, and there is a ton of jelly roll pen, but it didn't scan very well. I don't know who makes the alligator paper, but it's awesome!!! The raised bubles feel just like the leather. Yes, that is a Webkinz Unicorn!

Cookies and carrots

The cookies were for Santa, "But mommy, what about the reindeer? They have to fly all night too, they'll be hungry." So I give her a few carrots..."Mommy, I need one for EACH of the reindeer". She practiced counting to nine alot on Christmas Eve!

note: the scan is all wonky from photostitch

Grungeboard and leather keychains

I'm in a card swap called 'OCAM', One Card A Month. I decided to add a little gift this time around, and make an extra for a friend.

Valentines for Kids

These little 'dolls' are for Emily's Valentine's day swap. I was trying to encorporate as much texture as I could, while still keeping it safe for children with disabilities. I backed them with manilla tags so they can hang on the wheelchairs or from a hook for a fun whimsical decoration.

"Laissez les bons temps rouler!"

I can't believe today is Fat Tuesday! Earliest it's been in 25 years! wow! Let's see...12 years ago I spent it in the Big Easy...don't remember much of that, but I still have the beads and pull them out every year! We made a yummy looking King Cake, which we will have for breakfast, since it's already bedtime for the girls, and danced around the kitchen to the Mardi Gras Mambo.

Emily went to school with beads on, and came home as a float! Apparently all the wheelchair kids are decorated as the 'Kirk Krew'! Who knew?? Streamers, and flowers, and glitter and feathers....too funny!
I hope you had a safe, fun holiday too!

Tim Holtz

Early on in blogging days I mentioned my admiration for Tim Holtz's innoventive approach to stamping and paper arts. I thought it time I gave him his own post. Besides traveling year-round teaching workshops and promoting ranger Industries, Tim has designed 3 series of rubber stamps (3rd set to be released at CHA in a few weeks)that are quirky with out being sugary sweet. He is the master of Grunge with a new product called 'grungeboard', a paper based product, that to me smells like leather. He has an entire line of crackle paints, ink pads, new cool tools...and it doesn't look like he's going anywhere for a long time! woo hoo!
Beginning in December, he started 'The 12 tags of Christmas', where he posted step by step instructions how to make 12 awesome Holiday tags to add to gifts. He is continuing to share the love and awesome tutorials each month with a new technique demo with his products. Appropriately, he just posted his february technique making a Valentine tag with paint, ink and grungeboard.
If you're looking for a place to visit, go check out Tim's blog! Be sure to leave him a comment, he likes that, and tell him Luanne sent you!
